Orientation training program for volunteers in Nepal helps to get better volunteer experience in Nepal. During volunteer training Nepal volunteers get the knowledge about NGO staff, location of placement, social norm, health and safety issues as well as the dos and dos not in Nepal.Organization representative meet you an airport on your arrival day and transfer to volunteer hostel or host family house according to chosen program. Representative introduces you with staff member, code of conduct, organization and briefing about volunteer project placement including health and safety issues in Nepal.
To introduce you Nepalese history, culture and customs we do provide 3 days orientation class. The orientation will provide you with extensive information about your new work situation, as well as tips on handling intercultural issues. After completion your volunteer orientation you will be taken to your placement.
We will pick you up at the airport and take you to a volunteer hostel, where you can meet with other volunteers and share their experiences. During this phase you visit important places in Kathmandu valley on our guided city tours program. The length of volunteer training orientation program depends on the duration of the volunteering in Nepal period. During these 3 to 4 days of orientation you will be participate in the following activities:
1. Nepali cultural orientation, dos and dos not in Nepal
2. 1 hrs basic Nepali language per day / Teaching English as foreign Language (if necessary)
3. Personal safety/health /Environmental/communication system
4. Sightseeing / travel and tours information on request
5. Introduction about the volunteer program and project
6. Introduction about the responsibilities of volunteers
7. Cultural information and social issues
8. Discussion of placement
9. Typical Nepali dinners
10. Shopping
Trainer-participant ratio
2 to 10 participants in each class, depending on the need and situation, individual classes also will create if required.
Second phase village stay
After few days in Kathmandu you will be taken one of our placement villages inside or beyond Kathmandu valley as per your chosen project. There you will spend most of the volunteering period with a traditional Nepali family. You will get a chance to hike, visit the local school, work in community, help the family in their daily tasks, and eat traditional Nepali food. You will also become accustomed to living in basic conditions a skill you will need to have developed for your placement.
Accommodation and Food
Accommodation provide either in volunteer hostel or in host family house, breakfast, lunch and dinner and tea coffee provided in between according Nepali food culture (dal bhat tarkari). You will either have a single room or you may share a room with another volunteer where you have to adjust in common hot shower and toilets.
Optional recreational activities
For a small extra cost, participants will have the opportunity to join in a range of exciting recreational activities during their stay. We can help to organize tours, trekking, rafting and jungle safari as per your interest in weekend but cost does not include in our program fees.
